EXPLAINING THE IN-GAME UI
Before you can really become an expert at playing QHF, you first must understand the basics of the in-game user interface (UI). In this section of the guide, we will provide an overview of all the UI elements you’ll encounter while coaching a game.
(1) Play Clock
On offense, the play clock shows you how much time you have to call a play before receiving a 5- yard Delay of Game penalty. You must not only pick your play before the play clock reaches :00, but you also must get to the line of scrimmage and hike the ball. The length of the play clock is determined by the Game Mode.
On defense, once the offensive has selected its play, you get an additional 10 seconds to pick a defensive play. This is to simulate the real life scenario where the defensive coordinator is able to see what personnel package the offense is using before making a decision on what defensive play needs to be called. As part of this, the defense is also told the name and key players in the package of the offense’s play.
(2) Play Filter
While the playbook starts off small for new users, if you wish to have continued success playing QHF you will have to increase your playbook size exponentially. When you get to that point, the Play Filter will become your best friend. The filter lets you narrow down your playbook based on things such as the type of play, key play, formation, package and favorites. A more in-depth look at the play filter can be found in the section on Calling Plays & Using The Play Filter.
(3) QC & CP Bank
Since using Player, Play and Team Boosts cost either QC or CP, this is where you’ll find your current totals for each of these two currencies.
(4) Play Selector
This is where you can call plays, flip plays, cycle through plays and select a Play Boost. A more in-depth look at the play selector can be found in the section on Calling Plays & Using The Play Filter.
(5) Scoreboard
This is where you’ll find all of the pertinent information about the status of the game. In addition to having both your and your opponent’s coach name, team logo, score and timeouts remaining, it also shows the current quarter, down & distance, and time remaining in the quarter. It also shows information specific to you, such as your current coach level, FP, FP to next level, and your FP bar. This bar and your FP totals will grow as you earn FP after each play.
If you click on the icon that looks like a stopwatch that appears next to your logo and score, it will call a time out. The yellow dots below this icon show how many time outs you have left in that particular half.
If you click on the magnifying glass icon next to your team name or that of your opponents, you will get the starting line up of that team based on whether their offense or defense is currently on the field. This will give you a good idea of how your players match up against your opponents and where you have advantages or disadvantages when comparing your offense to their defense or vice versa. Below is a look at what the roster looks like when the magnifying glass icon is being clicked and held.
(6) On-Field Play Art
In the main portion of the screen is where you’ll see the on-field play art of whichever play has been clicked in the play selector. Here you will be able to click on each of the 11 players on your team to view their information in the player panel or to apply a Player Boost onto them.
(7) Team Boost
In the upper right corner is where you can monitor your Team Boosts. This shows you how many Team Boosts you have remaining in multiplayer games and how much each boost costs. It will say FREE if you’ve gotten the free Farmers’ Team Boost ad when the game was loading.
(8) Player Panel
This shows stats and information pertaining to the player that has been highlighted in the main portion of the screen where the on-field play art is displayed.
(9) Chat & Play By Play
In this window, you will be able to view the play by play information of the game as each play is completed, as well as chat with your opponent in multiplayer games. Clicking on the tabs for either chat or play by play will toggle on and off the display of each so you can have only one of each displayed, both or none at all.
(10) Settings
The bottom right of the screen has three icons. They can either pause the game (single player games only), turn the audio on or off, or quit out of the game. Please note that quitting out of multiplayer games is considered a very bad thing to do and will get you an evil red QUIT on your record and if your opponent continues the game and beats your team, you will also get a LOSS.
