Update 3.1 Preview: Now on Facebook

Dev Diary, News - By - January 31, 2011 - 2:49 pm -

One of the things that we’ve been working toward since the dawn of QUICKHIT was getting the game launched as a Facebook application. This dream is about to come to fruition as part of our launch of Update 3.1 later this week.

The Facebook application will offer the entirety of what’s available on QUICKHIT.com plus some benefits of being on FB, such as making use of their various features regarding adding friends and their chat, which should make it easier to communicate with friends outside of the game environment to schedule out games and find friends that are up for quick game.

Everything about the game will be pretty much the same as what’s on our Website and coaches will be able to play games against each other whether they’re coming from FB or QH.

The new hub will give coaches significantly easier access to important things such as adding new friends, challenging existing friends to games, and accessing the stats and stadiums of both the user’s team and all of his or her friends.

Here’s a look at what the new hub will look like:

Update 3.1 Preview: Gameplay Tunes

Dev Diary, News - By - January 28, 2011 - 11:50 am -

There’s not much planned for gameplay enhancements in Update 3.1, but a few things have been fixed that should appease the masses anywhere from 0.5% to 1.36%. Here’s a quick bullet list run down:

  • Improved the blocking on punts and field goals to reduce the number of players that have a shot at blocking the kicks.
  • Decreased the fair catch threshold to increase the number of punts that are returned.
  • Reduced the max kicking distance for Level 100 kickers from 70 to 65 yards on FGs.
  • Tuned down the chase distance for lead blockers to reduce the chances of them going after a guy far off his path.
  • Increased the time that offside pursuers stay in their rush gap to help reduce the offside defensive end or blitzing defender chase down runs.
  • Added new offside pursuit behavior to give defenders a proper pursuit angle on plays to the other side of the field.

Update 3.1 Preview: Coach Search

Dev Diary, News - By - January 28, 2011 - 11:28 am -

Falling into the category of “long overdue”, we will finally be offering users a chance to search for other coaches as part of Update 3.1. At the top of each screen will be a search box where one can enter the name or partial name of a coach and we’ll return all the matches.

And here’s a sample of what will be returned if a user searches for a coach with “steelers” in his or her name:
