Update 3.2 Preview: Improving The Friends List & Chat

Dev Diary, News - By - February 22, 2011 - 9:52 pm -

Our friends list widget has been a bit of a mess since we initially launched it and hasn’t made simple things such as accepting friend invites or just knowing you have friend invites as easy as it ought to be. As part of Update 3.2, we’ve re-arranged a few things that should greatly improve the usability of this widget.

J-Stein Takes Down Meags in Groovy Bowl!

News - By - February 8, 2011 - 6:46 pm -

The second-ever QUICKHIT Tournament for the “Groovy Bowl” ended in a great battle between my two tourney favorites, Jeremy “I’ll Boost If I Want To” Stein and Mike “Wolfman” Meagher.

To get into the finals, Meagher had to do battle with his Flash cohort, Jim “Found A Major Multiplayer Crash Bug Today” Heys, who had just beaten Geoff to make it into the semis. Meagher took down Heys after several failed attempts to play the game that helped Jim find and fix a multiplayer crash bug that affects games where either one or two of the players are using the 2D client.

In the other side of the bracket, Jeremy toppled the never-say-quit (at least not until she’s hungry and wanting to get lunch) Denise 27-24 after she essentially lost hope and did a Tom Brady-esque time-consuming TD drive in the 4th to bring her within three points, before Jeremy got the ball and was able to run the last minute off the clock after a coupleĀ  of first down runs. Her explanation for why she just let the clock run on that drive was that she gave up and just wanted to get lunch.

In the championship, Stein, who had failed to level during the tourney because of a bug at the end of the game, came up with a bunch of big runs to take down Meags, 28-18, thanks in large part to left over QC he used for play boosts and the fact that Mike showed his hand a bit by using HB Draw as his only play out of the Ace package. It was a great finale and tournament that will hopefully help spawn many more in the months to come.

QH Office Tourney

News - By - February 7, 2011 - 12:42 pm -

In what’s sadly only the second-ever QUICKHIT Office Tournament, the race to the “Groovy Bowl Championship” is a little more than halfway complete (the first tournament never had a crowned champion as Brandon Justice and myself were in the finals but never played the game — though, in our first multiplayer game played since the tournament Justice took me down in the LFL).

Dave Z Predicts Super Bowl XLV

News - By - February 6, 2011 - 1:13 pm -

My record picking against the spread for this year’s NFL playoffs stands at a fairly impressive 5-1. I nailed both conference championship games and got 3 out of 4 correct in the divisional round. The only pick I’ve gotten wrong so far was the game between the Jets and Patriots and I’m going to chalk that one up to being over-hyped by the Patriots-infested office at QUICKHIT in Foxboro.

That said, my previous success hasn’t raised my confidence in picking the outcome of Super Bowl XLV between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers. This game could easily go any way and it should be an epic and exciting battle.
