Update 3.0 Preview: My Friends

Dev Diary, News - By - December 21, 2010 - 5:58 pm -

Update 3.0 will bring multiple features focused on letting you compete against your friends. Dave’s already detailed the new friends-based leaderboards and the ability to play against friends, even when they’re offline.

You’re probably asking yourself: “But how do I keep track of all my friends?”

Answer: The new My Friends page. Hooray.

My Friends can be found as a tab on your Team Hub. From there you can look at your total friends list, visit the Coach pages of each of your friends, and challenge your online friends to games.

Check out a screenshot of the My Friends page after the jump.

QUICKHIT Holiday Party @ Gillette Stadium

Features, News - By - December 20, 2010 - 4:34 pm -

Last Thursday, QUICKHIT had its annual Christmas Party at Gillette Stadium just a Tom Brady bomb away from the company’s office in Foxboro(ugh), MA. It was fun times thanks to the Yankee Swap gift-exchange extravaganza, Derrick’s a capella rendition of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, a fun tour of the Stadium, and, of course, the open bar and excellent catered food.  Thousands of photos were taken and I thought it’d be cool to share some of them with you guys that were deemed “safe”. :) Full Story

Update 3.0 Preview: 50% Sale On Premier Legends!

Dev Diary, Features, News - By - December 20, 2010 - 12:27 pm -

Being that I’m a jolly fat man myself, there’s been a strong desire to have some sales for the Holidays. Enough of you must’ve been nice this year, as approval has been given to place all Premier Legends in the QUICKHIT Pro Shop on sale from the launch of Update 3.0 — which should go live in the next couple of days — through January 3rd, 2011.

The on-sale players will be discounted for a whopping 50% off during this time period so Premier Legends that now go for an average of 254 QC will be priced at around 127 QC during this time period — making them a lot closer to the level of the Classic Legends, but with the +7 bonus that comes with Premiers.

Update 3.0 Preview: Drop Player

Dev Diary, News - By - December 17, 2010 - 6:17 pm -

Back when we added the Depth Chart and removed Untrain, the plan was to also add the ability to Drop players off of your roster. However, thanks to some very last minute holes in the design that were discovered, we were forced to nix the feature last minute. This caused players looking to re-tweak their teams much heartache since Untrain was removed — and it was something we couldn’t just easily turn back on. Full Story

Update 3.0 Preview: New SP Leaderboards

Dev Diary, News - By - December 17, 2010 - 3:57 pm -

Whether you’re a new or old user, the chances are that when you look at the leaderboards you feel that your chances of ever being #1 are even less likely than my chances of getting Demi Lovato to respond to one of my thousands of fan mail letters or Tweets. Just getting the 900+ wins needed to crack the top 20 is daunting enough, but where will you ever get the time to win the 3,000+ games needed to overtake Movieguy from the top spot, particularly since those guys are continuously winning games and expanding their leads daily. Update 3.0 Preview: Playing Offline Friends

Dev Diary, News - By - December 17, 2010 - 3:32 pm -

As part of Update 3.0, we’re finally going to add the ability for users to play their offline friends. What this means is that coaches will be able to play against a friend’s team with the computer handling the play calling duties — using the same system as AI takeover where the user’s specific playbook is used and extra weight is given to the plays that have been added to the Favorites by that coach. It won’t be like playing the real-life friend, but should give players a chance to see how it is to play the friend’s team with all of its current roster of players and plays.

In addition to being able to do this in the Standard mode, users will also be able to challenge AI-controlled versions of their friends in each of the new game modes — No Huddle, Blitz, Sudden Death and Marathon. What’s more, the records in these friends matches will be saved so you’ll be able to see how well you fare against each of your friends, as well as the various NFL teams and QH coaches, by checking out the player cards in the newly re-designed single player lobby. Down the road you’ll even be able to post the results on your friend’s wall when you give their AI team a particularly good beat down that you want all of your friends and their friends to know about.

Update 3.0 Preview: AI Team Re-Factor

Dev Diary, News - By - December 17, 2010 - 3:19 pm -

Thanks to the constant changing around of the CP curves combined with an AI team generation system that wasn’t easily scalable, we’ve had a lot of trouble getting the AI teams generated to match up as we wanted to with users at different coach levels based on when exactly they signed up with QUICKHIT. The expectation has always been that medium difficulty teams would be at around the user’s team rating, easy teams would be below and hard teams would be rated higher. Based on when your team was created and what level you are, this sadly just hasn’t been the case. Full Story

Update 3.0 Preview: Gameplay

Dev Diary, News - By - December 13, 2010 - 5:14 pm -

The plan on the gameplay front for Update 3.0 was to start concentrating on some of the smaller broken things with the game. Subsequently, there aren’t any major global tunes planned but instead a bunch of smaller tweaks to specific areas of the game that need some tender love and care. Here’s a breakdown of the things we’ve touched in a completely platonic kind of way: Full Story

Update 3.0 Preview: SP Game Modes

Dev Diary, News - By - December 13, 2010 - 4:35 pm -

There have been two forces fighting each other since the dawn of QUICKHIT that have rivaled the strife seen with the Rebels vs. Imperials or Pirates vs. Ninjas. On one side, there’s always been this desire to have a casual game that can be played in 10-15 minutes while your boss is taking one of those larger than normal Chipotle-inspired post-lunch dumps. And on the other side, we have also wanted to deliver a quality coaching strategy game that can’t easily be squeezed into that time frame. Full Story
